Keynote speakers

Christoph Bergmeir
Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, University of Granada, Spain
Christoph Bergmeirs research bridges machine learning and time series forecasting, with a strong focus on real-world decision-making applications in supply chain management, sustainable energy, and capacity planning. A former Visiting Research Data Scientist at Meta, Dr. Bergmeir has led industry-facing projects delivering production-grade systems for short-term renewable energy and price forecasting. His work sits directly at the intersection of predictive analytics and operational optimization, making his expertise particularly relevant to the operational research community.

Merve Bodur
Reader in Operational Research, School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom
Merve Bodurs core research lies at the heart of mathematical optimization, specializing in integer programming, stochastic programming, and decision-making under uncertainty. She develops state-of-the-art decomposition algorithms and prescriptive analytics techniques applied to large-scale, complex societal challenges, including power system operations, healthcare delivery, and supply chain logistics—making her work central to the core interests of the ORBEL community.
